How we handle your information

ContractOut is a business operated by Danny Jovica (sole trader), based in Melbourne, Victoria ("we", "us"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
1. What we collect
When you use the enquiry form on our website we collect:
- your name and business name
- your business website address
- your email address
- what you'd like to start with (for example a private preview or an audit)
- roughly what one new customer is worth to your business, if you choose to tell us
- anything you choose to write in the message field.
When you submit the form, our server also records the date and time, your IP address and your browser type. We use these only to prevent spam and abuse and to keep the service secure.
We may also collect information you give us directly, for example by email or during a call. We review business websites that are publicly available when preparing a preview or audit.
This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies, and doesn't load third-party tracking scripts.
2. Why we collect it
- to respond to your request and arrange your preview walkthrough
- to review your website and prepare your preview or audit
- to understand which service would suit your business best
- to send you a proposal or quote if you ask for one, and to provide our services if you engage us
- to keep records of our dealings with you, and to meet legal obligations.
We won't use your information for unrelated purposes without your consent. We won't add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to. Any commercial emails we send will identify us and include a way to unsubscribe.
3. Disclosure
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with service providers who help us run the business (such as our website and email hosting providers), and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose it where the law requires.
4. Storage, security and overseas hosting
Form submissions are stored on a server we operate, hosted by a provider in France, and our email is hosted on a server in Germany (both in the European Union). By submitting the form you acknowledge that your information will be stored outside Australia in those locations. We take reasonable steps to protect it: encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to the server, and keeping only what we need.
We keep enquiry details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client (in which case we keep records as long as needed for the engagement and legal requirements), or you ask us to delete them sooner.
5. Access, correction and deletion
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing founder@contractout.com.au. We'll respond within 30 days.
6. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please email us first and we'll try to resolve it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
